About the brand:

Election traced its roots to 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The company can trace directly back to Lazare Lucien Braunschweig (1819-1899), who worked as a watchmaker in the area, but it was his brother, Alphonse Braunschweig, who first established himself as a watchmaker.

Alphonse is listed as A. Braunschweig, a watchmaker in Le Locle as early as 1854.

First set up shop producing Election brand watches at the Montbrillant Watch Manufactory alongside Léon Breitling. Later Election worked closely with Marvin in the post-war period, and the two companies share some watch movements.

In the 1940s followed the branding trend. Nouvelle Fabrique Election SA produced watches under the Electron, Selection, and Grand Prix brands.

About Eterna:

Eterna started its life as a movement manufacture named "Dr. Girard & Schild," established by Josef Girard and Urs Schild in 1856. The Eterna name didn't appear on the dial of the company's watches until 1889. Eterna was the first company to bring to market a wristwatch with an alarm function in 1914 (patented in 1908). Eterna was also a proponent of the introduction of self-winding movements, with the Eterna-matic series, starting in 1948. The Eterna-Matic was different than other automatic calibers of the time, as its construction featured a ball-bearing mounted rotor system to reduce the level of friction, a design that eventually set a Swiss watch industry standard.

While the company was somewhat of a disruptor, Eterna timepieces were also known for their minimalism. This Eterna-Matic is an excellent example of that philosophy.

SOLD! 1940s Mido Multifort/Taubert watch case

CHF 0.00

THIS TIMEPIECE IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE!

SOLD!

This is rare and well kept Mido Multifort in 28.5mm watch case from the 1940s, with a stunning dial!

I have tried to keep it as original as possible, the watch is still in unpolished condition.

Our watchmaker has added a brand new glass to the watch, and a dark blue navy watch band to complete the look.

But, why this watch is so special?

Not only because its condition and because it's charming look but its design and technic that is fascinating.

About the watch case:

Please read this!

In the early 1930s, Taubert introduced an octagonal stainless steel "waterproof" case having a decagonal screw down back and a specially treated cork winding stem seal, who were one of the first case companies to successfully produce dust and humidity proof cases. In fact they were so skilled, that many of the finest watch companies used their specialist cases for waterproof models also used by watch manufacturers such as Mido. (Patent image #9)

The size:

It really didn’t take long for gents’ wristwatches to become the main area of an arms race between the manufacturers. Each of them wanted to show their technological and engineering prowess by offering the best accuracy in the smallest possible package. Hence, gents’ watches measuring 27-30mm in diameter were at the height of popularity back in the 1930s, and into the 1940s.

Back in the 1940s size was not the factor that defined a watch as ladies’ or gents’. It was all about the design and proportions.

This well-proportioned dial and the chunky waterproof case by Taubert nicely compensate for the fairly small size.

If you are looking for a rare and beautifully kept antique watch, this might be the one for you.

A dream for watch collectors & also, can be considered as a good investment!

1950s Rare Longines Aicerinox,浪琴, Self Winding movement 22AN

CHF 945.00

This is a very rare Longines timepiece called AICERINOX and we could not find a second model of it, so we contacted Longines and asked for an EXACT FROM THE ARCHIVES that says:

`Originally, the serial number 8'147'700 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel bearing the reference 6006. It is fitted with a Longines mechanical self-winding movement, caliber 22AN. It was invoiced on 24 December 1951 to our former agent for China.`

We could not find not the model or the caliber ending with AN.

So, it explains a lot and it is probably a single piece as in China Longines was not to everyone available in the 1950s, this timepiece must have been owned by someone highly ranked person.

However the what has found its way back to Switzerland again, and we are very proud to be able to offer it for sale.

The watch case is extremely beautiful and the curved and long lugs make it look larger as it is.

The long black sword hands and the black numbers and indexes are sharp and you surely won't miss a second because of the lovely central sweep seconds hand kept its beautiful gold tone to help your eyes to follow.

Not only a rare timepiece but absolutely stunning looking and surely is an eye-catcher!

1956 Longines Silver Arrow, Legendary Longines 23ZS, First edition

CHF 995.00

The Silver Arrow is an exercise in clean, legible watchmaking – something that we don`t see in many of today's dress watches.

The Longines Silver Arrow has a fascinating history. Named in homage of the ground-breaking high-profile Mercedes race cars of the same mid-century period, which were known for their speed, technological advancement and elegance.

The Model was first released in 1956!

Our timepiece were among those few released as first - dates back exact to this date with the serial number 10165855 and dates this watch to 1956.

This fact alone makes this watch something special as it was released among the first edition, but there is more to look at!

Silver Arrows are known for their case back emblems: a supersonic plane, flying amongst the stars. With these watches being made right on the brink of the Space Age, it is a clear nod to Longines's association with aviation, as well as their clear understanding of the advancements in technology that were happening in multiple other industries.

This watch, put simply, is stunning. it is in truly spectacular condition for a watch that age.

The dial is incredibly interesting and the aging of it gives no doubt to its originality. It has an outer, mirrored ring and very unusual, brick-effect baton gold toned markers.

In the 33.5mm diameter watch case is the Longines caliber 23ZS!

Perfect gift to a loved one or to a serious Longines watch collector!

SOLD! 1970s Tissot Tissonic with Bulova tuning fork movement

CHF 0.00

Here's a lovely TISSOT TISSONIC ELECTRONIC with gorgeous blue `Black Gammon`textured watch dial, and this is not all: The movement inside the watch case is not less than the legendary Bulova Accutrons electronic tuning fork movement.

In 1950, long before the arrival of quartz watches, whose precision led to their supplanting mechanical pieces, Bulova, an American watch brand, worked on a technology that increased watches’ autonomy and precision; the two weak spots of mechanical watches at the time.

Concerning the functioning of the tuning fork, it gets its energy from a battery, it oscillates at 360 hertz and it is electronically stabilized by an electromagnetic field that makes a very particular sound produced by two coils. The slight humming is representative of Accutron pieces. The second hand also moves continuously, just like in mechanical watches.

The solid stainless steel original unpolished case measures 39mm excluding the crown by 42.5mm from top to bottom.

The stainless steel watchband is also to be mentioned here:

-Its an original Pilots watch band (without any brand name on it), with professional pilot claps that allows the wearer to carry the watch not only on the wrist but also on the sleeves of a jacket. Measures about 25cm (NOT including the watch!)

The crown is factory original signed Tissot.

Great Collectors watch!

EXTRA NOTE: Some key dates to the Accoutre movement:

In 1962, the Accutron became the first certified watch for American railroads staff.

With its precision, trains could be punctual and, most importantly, avoid collisions that were due to late arrivals or departures. Seventy-five other railroad companies across the world also adopted the Accutron technology. A year later, in 1963, astronaut Gordon Cooper was victim of an electric incident in his capsule during a mission around the Earth (Faith 7 project). He used the chronometer function of his Accutron Astronaut to time the restarting of the engines and was able to return to Earth. The watch, we could say, saved his life. In 1964, American president Lynden Johnson gave an Accutron as an official State gift to personalities from across the world. Accutron clocks equipped the presidential Air Force One plane as well as the American army’s aircrafts and ships.

SOLD! Officers WW1 Trench Silver watch, Officers watch, WWI Officers watch, Trench watch, Rare Trench watch,Battle of the "Flanders Fields,"

CHF 0.00

The watch came from someone whose great grandfather was serving as an officer in WWI fighting in the "Flanders Fields,"- it deserves a lots of respect!

During the Great War, many jewellers and retailers advertised watches that were intended to appeal to military men and which were often called or referred to as "Service" watches. It was quickly realised that a watch with luminous hands and numbers was essential for an officer in the trenches, it allowed the time to be checked in low light or in the dark without using a light that could have attracted a shot from an enemy sniper.

Every one of the young lieutenants who blew his whistle and scrambled out of a trench to lead his company of men towards enemy fire was wearing a wristwatch; a trench watch.

The trench watch shown here is typical of an officer's watch from the Great War.(World War I.) The most important features are the luminous dial and unbreakable glass.(On this exemplar probably the crystal has been changed.)

The vitreous enamel dial has skeleton Arabic numerals and skeleton hands called “poire squelette” to take radium based luminous paint.

A little history:

The Great War began as a war of movement, with the opposite sides trying to outflank each other during late 1914 in the so-called “race to the sea”. Once the coast was reached in Northern France and there was no possibility of either side outmanoeuvring the other, it changed into a static war as the opposing sides dug into trenches. In the trenches activity continued day and night, and attacks were generally started in the early morning darkness to take the other side by surprise. Wristwatches made before the war did not have luminous dials, but it quickly became apparent that a luminous dial was a necessity for an officer's wristwatch in the dark confines of the trenches.

Swiss manufacturers were far and away the largest makers of smaller movements before the Great War war, and had been trying the market with wristwatches before the outbreak of the war, were in an ideal position to capitalise on the demand for wristwatches. Although initially short of skilled labour as men were called up into the Swiss army at the outbreak of the war, they were soon able to ramp up production and produced many thousands of wristwatches throughout the period of the war.

Original military numerals and and original set of skeleton hands called “poire squelette” .

SOLD! Rare 1910s C.L.Guinand RATTRAPANTE Spit-Seconds Military Stopwatch, Great War Stopwatch, WWI Military Stopwatch

CHF 0.00

This Rare C.L.Guinand RATTRAPANTE Spit-Seconds Military Stopwatch is a must-have for any serious WWI collector. With its intricate design and historical significance, this stopwatch is a true piece of art. Featuring a split-second timer and military precision, it was used during the Great War and is now a coveted collector's item. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of history with this exquisite WWI collectible.

Metal case No. 52823, Rattrapante pusher at 11h, signed. Enamelled dial with 60-second division, central stopwatch hand with sweep function, small second, 30-minute counter at 12h, hair cracks, the enamel dial some signs of repair and number 55 is a re-paint. Lever movement with flat spring, rattrapante, signed.

Meaning of Rattrapante:

“Rattrapanter” is French for “to catch again” or “to take again.” All this occurs without affecting the motion of the main chronograph hand. A rattrapante is also called a “split-seconds chronograph” or a flyback chronograph.

What is a Rattrapante Stopwatch?

A split-seconds hand or rattrapante is an additional seconds hand on mechanical chronographs. The split-seconds hand, which runs underneath the stopwatch hand, can be stopped independently using a push-button at “10 o'clock”, while the stopwatch hand continues to run.

What was the use of the Rattrapante Stop watch?

This is where the rattrapante function counts the same events that started simultaneously but did not end simultaneously. How to use it is by activating the chronograph at the same time. After the first event occurs, you will use the pusher to stop the one hand, and the other hand will continue to count the total time.

1970s ANDREW GRIMA - About time collection - Omega unisex luxury watch

CHF 1,900.00

This is a very rare and beautiful design by ANDREW GRIMA Omega watch.

There is, a world of undiscovered Omega gems that are very much growing in popularity in the current trend towards unusual and interesting case designs and EMERALD cut crystal.

It’s not just brands like Cartier and Piaget that made fascinating and funky shaped watches over the past half century. Omega has several incredibly cool and unusual watches in its rich history, none arguably more interesting than those designed by or inspired by English jeweller Andrew Grima.

A man who surpassed all others as the man of the moment when it came to jewellery and that was Andrew Grima. He was regarded as the foremost designer of modern jewellery in the 60s and 70s and had an exclusive boutique on Jermyn Street in the heart of London’s Mayfair. His work was high end and bespoke and, fittingly for the regal part of Mayfair, St James’s, his clients included British Royalty including both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.

Here we look at the Englishman’s incredibly forward-thinking design.

Also a very important detail that the inside the watchcase is marked with the key and with the letter "A"! Please see the attached video.

Extra notes about this Seamster line:

Lauched in 1948 to coincide with the brand’s 100th Anniversary, the OMEGA Seamaster is the collection’s oldest line. The Seamaster is based on water-resistant wristwatches made for the British Army at the end of WWII.

The history of the Seamaster De Ville begins in 1960. Early models at its release did not have the inscription “De Ville” on the dial. It was only in 1963 that the inscription appeared, and that until 1967. The main change of the “De Ville” was to offer a water-resistant and elegant monoblock case.

Lovely Vintage Seamaster.

Owning and wearing a piece of history on your wrist is special!

The first Seamaster 30 watches used Caliber 286, a 17 jewel movement with 42-hour power reserve and sweep seconds, and this example what you see here is one of those great watches that have been made in the 1960s. The "30" in the model name refers not to the depth of water resistance, but instead to the size of the movement.
